I myself am loving the new artwork, the different styles each give an insight into the card themselves!

Examples:
Hida Manoru: Action packed and artistically detailed action artwork
Kakita Taminoko: Just a beautiful, Beautiful picture!
Tsuruchi Saya: Same artist as above, also gorgeous.
and Isawa Itsuoko: cool artwork, style can almost be described as Marvel-Comics-ish...

awesome new art for (Hopefully) an awesome new set!

I am agree, new artworks are interesting, and beautiful for Kakita Taminoko and Tsuruchi Saya...I canoot read correctly the artist's name, if someone can help me. I'd like to see all its arts, he is impressive...now he just has to make some Dragon, and he will become my favorite with Steve Arguyle!!!!

Link Thats the link to his DeviantArt page. Awesome artwork.
I've got to agree the new artwork id very nice (apart from the Scorpion Ninja), and its style really helps the game. I just dont want to lose some of our current artists though. Drew 'Daigotsu' Baker being one of them.

Thank you very much for your help!!!!
I hope too, that Drew will still work for L5r, as Arguyle, Coimbra and Jason Engle. Oups, I've forgotten April Lee, of course!!!

Some very helpfull info and many hopefull opinions heard so far. Athough in Greece some l5r players are not so fond of the change. Still many new arts remain to be seen hopefully as good as the ones already seen

I think that we'll just have to wait and see. As long as the artwork is atleast the same quality it is at now I'm not too worried. Just as long as it doesn't drop and that the manga-style doesnt become the predominant style of art.

It's quite beautiful, but it's going to take some time for my eyes to adjust to the font.

To someone who wrote on here, it clearly won't become predominantly manga, but expect to see a little more of that influence. All you need to do is travel around a few L5R forums, and outside of actual L5R characters or silly personal avatars, a very large number of the avatars are from anime. Personally I'm not a huge fan of anime, but the players of the game like it, so we'll have that look to an extent.

Well, not all manga/anime artists are the same. Actually there is a wide range of different styles. I could live with artwork that honours the tradition of Goseki Kojima or even Hiroaki Samura. But most of the other manga/anime artists are ... so not L5R to me.

When having a check through the imperial gift set, Some artwork I'm in love with (Notsu, Bundoru and sacred valley asll spring to mind) but some does look to manga-ish to me (Game of sincerity and as Kakita Mishude said, the scorpion ninja)

The only query i have is why do it during a set? should it not be done for Celestial edition?

Well, a lot of people like steak sauce, myself included. I will bet, though, that not a lot of people like steak sauce on their ice cream. And, to me, L5R is one giant tub of Ben and Jerry's. Now, I am enjoying your new flavor, Final Fantasy Crunch (see Taminoko and Saya from IG 1), but hold the A-1, please. Implant-wielding Shugenja who need double-stick tape to keep their kimono on, I can do without. And that's MY rebuke of Osano-Wo's same.

To end on a positive note, I'm loving the CE Marketplace preview! Charles Urbach is one of the best and nicest artists to work on this game. Do not let him go before he makes an O'Connor- or Lee-sized contribution! Or even after that.
